When Apple of His Eye Charity first began working in India, and later in Rwanda, it was because we met some men who were already making personal sacrifices by taking orphans into their homes. These men were well-respected by other pastors in their region. During storms and monsoons, they often distributed food and blankets. They were seeking to be blessings to the non-Christians around them.
This is the kind of advice God had given to Jeremiah to communicate to the captives who had been taken from Jerusalem to the city of Babylon. “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7) The country of India, like Babylonia, is not known for honoring the One True God.
I remember one time in India when we were invited to participate in the graduation of some women from Sewing School. They had been trained to start their own sewing businesses to provide for their families. AHEC was privileged to give the graduating women their own brand-new sewing machine. The mayor of the nearby community was invited to the ceremonies. When she saw what AHEC had done for these women, she asked if we could provide money to build bathrooms at the homes of her village. Before that, people went to the bathroom anywhere they could find safety. When we came back to the States, we launched a campaign in which you gave enough money to build enclosed bathrooms with locking doors that connected to their homes, increasing safety, convenience, and self-esteem.
Your donations are making a substantial impact in the lives of Christians and not-yet Christians, alike, in the countries of India and Rwanda, thus fulfilling God’s command through Jeremiah. Thank you!
