Hope & Blessing Through a Simple Meal

Isaiah 58:10 |  … And if you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. (NIV)

In our nation, it is common to assume that we’ll have access to three meals a day along with snacks and dessert. Many of us don’t think twice about purchasing a fancy drink from the local coffee shop. While these daily occurrences are normal for us, they are not the normal experience of children and adults in developing nations.

In Rwanda the rate of hunger insecurity, among children, is 33%.* In India, 80% of infants and young children fail to meet the dietary standards for protein intake.*

The Book of Genesis shows us that God blessed Abraham in order that he might be a blessing to the nations. In America we have been blessed with abundance in order that we might extend a helping hand to those around us who live in need. Through so many of you, seeds are being planted in the lives of hundreds of children and families both immediately and eternally.

As we prepare a table and invite the children to eat, we visibly share with them the invitation of Jesus Christ – to come and eat from the Bread of Life. The children are filled with nutrition in body and spirit. Thank you for partnering with us as we bring lasting sustenance to the children of Rwanda and India. Thank you for being a hand, reached out, offering a ladder from the pit of poverty to the open spaces of opportunity. Their futures are colorful because of your help.
